Frederick Feigl was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He studied briefly at the Academy of Arts in Prague, at the Antwerp Academy (1904–5), and in Paris. Later he lived in Hamburg (1910) and Palestine (1932). He returned to Czechoslovakia in 1933 and emigrated to England in 1939. He exhibited at the Wertheim Gallery (1940) and the Czechoslovak Institute, London (1944), as well as the Ben Uri (1959 and 1964).

    This is a great self portrait of Fred Feigl

    My late wife, Usha used to paint with him in 1959-1964. He did a portrait of my late wife before we got married in 1962!. We have several of his works in the house which we enjoy.
